About the Program

After being inspired by young people during performances at schools and local peace organizations, members of the Denver-based band Flobots decided to create a non-profit entity that would demonstrate the ability of bands to use their platform to promote civic engagement and social change.

One of the programs within Flobots.org is the music enrichment program which was first launched in 2007 at The Denver Childrens Home. As a therapeutic program, up to 35 children per week participated in multiple musical activities. Activities included individual guitar, piano, and voice lessons, recording and songwriting sessions, and group music skills and theory classes,

In an effort to extend the reach of these artistic opportunities, Flobots.org is expanding its music program in 2009. The new music program will allow at risk youth throughout Denver Colorado to participate. The music program is funded through donations and is a run by local artists who volunteer their talent.
