James Laurie Chair – James, also known as Flobots MC Jonny 5, has been writing and performing raps since 1996. He is a lead vocalist with the Flobots and a founding member of Flobots.org. Born in Dallas, Texas, he grew up in Denver and graduated from East High School. After graduating from Brown University in 2000 with a degree in Africana studies, he spent three years in Providence, Rhode Island, as an Americorps *VISTA doing youth development work and volunteering with racial and economic justice organizations. In 2004 he returned to Colorado and created VoterCrews, a voter engagement campaign focused on mobilizing young voters by involving the musician community in the 2004 election. He worked at East High School coordinating tutoring/mentoring programs, the PeaceJam club, and an Open Mic club until 2008 when Flobots received a record contract with Universal Records and the band began a full-time touring schedule. He enjoys learning new languages and currently speaks and writes various amounts of English, Spanish, Japanese, ASL, French, Arabic, and Mandarin.

Andy Guerrero - Music Relations. A founding member of the Flobots, Andy Guerrero has been playing and working in the local music scene since he was 15 years old. After high school he attended the University of Colorado at Denver and graduated from the College of Arts and Media with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Music Business and a Minor in Music Performance and completed the Chancelor’s Scholars and Leaders Program (CSL). It was during his college years that Andy cut his teeth in the Denver music scene, from playing in his band Bop Skizzum and interning at the Gothic Theater to working with concert promotion companies and finally forming his own that did work for House of Blues, Clear Channel and NIPP. Andy has always enjoyed teaching music and working with youth. He’s taught Guitar of music classes for over 6 years, working with non profit programs like Butterfly Hope and local after school mentoring programs for Denver Middle Schools like BEACONS , and has also taught guitar classes for the Denver Public Schools Saturday Morning Music program. It was with these experiences and skills that Andy helped create the curriculum for the Flobots Music Program at Denver Childrens Home, teaching residents how to write, record and perform their own songs. Andy calls this one of the most rewarding experiences of his life and hopes to expand the program across the country while lending his expertise of music business knowledge to the board.
Greta Leach, Treasurer, is a licensed pastor in the United Methodist Church and is currently serving as associate minister at First United Methodist Church of North Platte, NE. Rev. Leach is a graduate student at Iliff School of Theology where she is involved in the Beatitudes Society, an ecumenical justice and peace organization. Previously, she worked as a senior auditor with Ehrhardt Keefe Steiner & Hottman. Greta enjoys spending time outdoors, reading, and working for justice and peace in the world.

Carol Mehesy, Secretary, is a principal at Community Based Strategies Group (CBSG), a non-profit consulting firm specializing in evaluation, research, strategic planning, technical assistance, and facilitation. Prior to founding CBSG Carol was vice president of programs at the Colorado Foundation for Families and Children. Carol has more than 15 years’ experience in non-profit development and management and has extensive experience in promoting programs and policies that support vulnerable families and children with a specific emphasis in education and health. Carol has a bachelor’s degree in social work and a master’s degree in political science with an emphasis in public policy.
